Suncadia Resort and Spa in Roslyn

There's a resort in the mountain town of Roslyn getting international attention.

Suncadia is a vacation resort with a backdrop of the snow-capped Cascade Mountains.

Tucked away 80 miles east of Seattle on the sunny eastern slopes of the Cascades, along the sparkling waters of the Cle Elum River. This destination surrounded by pristine pine forest is a luxury getaway.

"Really what we want people to do is they've got a chance to experience how beautiful the northwest is ... because Suncadia is about the best of the northwest," says Alex Hillinger, Director of Communications of Suncadia.

It's a premiere, 64-hundred acre, all-season mountain resort. You'll find tranquility on the trails or spend a few hours on this Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole golf course.

It's quaint enough for a romantic getaway, but it's also a place the entire family is welcome.

There are all kinds of sporting and recreational activities to enjoy in an unspioled mountain environment: two world-class golf courses, fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, horseback riding, or a relaxing day at the world class spa.

Most importantly, it's just a one tank trip from Seattle.

Suncadia's Senior VO of developement, Chris Kelsey, says, "the good news is , we're a drive to, so with 4 dollar gas and the cost of travel it is today, we're only an hour and a half from downtown so we're an affordable destination from that perspective, so you can come for a night or two and have an amazing experience for not that much money."

There are 254 rooms here at the lodge. They start at 189-dollars a night. Suncadia isn't just for guests. This resort is also a pricey private community.

Right now, there are 350 finished condos and homes. Lots alone are selling from the low 200's to the low 800's, mostly to people building second homes.

By 2013, there will be 35-hundred properties total, and a 3rd golf course will be open.

BTW, we drove an SUV and it took us about half a tank of gas round trip.
